Session 1, Soccer Player

Naomi.Firefly.pixFor those of you who don’t know me, I’m Naomi and I’m in Kfar Saba. I’ve been going to 6 Points since its very first summer so I feel a very deep connection to this camp and everyone in it. But the great thing about 6 Points is that whether you’ve been here 5 summers or 1 summer, it feels like home. Where I come from there aren’t many Jewish athletes, let alone Jewish soccer players. Then I come to camp and there are 65 other people just like me. For me, that’s one of the best parts about 6 Points, finding a community of amazing people who are a) Jewish and b) an athlete. Along with the people, this camp teaches values that I will carry with me my entire life. The bracelets that I and all of you now carry on your arms, not only serve as a reward for exemplifying that particular value but as a constant reminder to continue to use that value in our everyday lives. This camp has not only made me a better athlete, but it’s made me a better person as well. The counselor and coaches serve as amazing role models and I look up to them greatly. Like the camp’s values, my counselors will continue to affect my life outside of camp. There are not only my temporary parents, they are my friends, and I know I can turn to them whenever I need anything. I could go on for hours talking about how much this camp means to me, but I’m going to try to wrap it up. I’ve watched this camp grow from 5 dorms to 12 and from 70 campers to 240, but no matter what changes, this camp remains my home away from home. 6 Points is part of who I am, and even when my time as a campers has run out, I will look back on my time here as some of the best times of my life.
