A Word of Welcome - The Jay and Shirley Report

Jay Geller, Biennial Program chair, and Shirley Gordon, Biennial Program vice-chair, will be posting regularly with updates and observations from the stage and back room.

We are both looking forward to greeting all of you on December 12 at the San Diego Convention Center where we will gather with delegates from over 700 Union congregations to study with HUC scholars, learn effective synagogue management tools, find exciting new congregational programs, discuss important issues to Reform Jews, listen to dynamic and challenging speakers, sing and celebrate our Judaism, and make new lifelong friends.

There are several innovations at this Biennial. One is the greening of the Biennial which you will be hearing about after you arrive in San Diego. Second is the "blog", a place where you will have a chance to share your biennial experience with other attendees. Another is the introduction of both the new Reform prayer book, Mishkan T'filah, and the Women of Reform Judaism Women's Torah Commentary. Finally, you'll have the chance to enrich your home with beautiful Judaica, find the perfect kippah or talit, or find the latest in Jewish music in the Exhibitor's Hall.

We will be posting regularly on this blog about the Biennial and our thoughts on how it's going. We both look forward to greeting all of you in San Diego. Please don't hesitate to come up to us and say hello and let us know how about your Biennial experience.

See you in San Diego

Jay & Shirley
