Breaking News: Birthright Israel Changes Eligibility Requirements!

At the URJ Biennial last December, we shared our commitment to ensuring that every young adult in our movement who wishes to travel to Israel is able to do so. This is not a dream, but a reality through the gift of Taglit-Birthright Israel trips with URJ Kesher, the Reform Movement’s Birthright trip provider.

We have an opportunity this summer (May through August) to send more 18- to 26-year-olds to Israel than ever before on free 10-Day Birthright Israel trips.

Just yesterday, Birthright Israel announced a change in its eligibility requirements. We are thrilled to announce that Jewish young adults who previously traveled on teen peer travel programs, including high school tours and NFTY in Israel trips, prior to turning 18 are now eligible for Birthright Israel trips with URJ Kesher. More info is available in this story from Times of Israel.

We are proud that Kesher has provided thousands of the young adults in your community with the only Reform Birthright Israel trip! Our trips are inspiring, engaging and a reflection of our Reform Jewish values and worldview – and we’re thrilled that this eligibility change will help engage more of our young adults with Israel and enrich their Jewish identity.

Registration for the Summer 2014 season of trips will open on February 19th at
