Gift of Life at Camp Harlam in 2011
The URJ Camps are proud to partner with the Gift of Life Foundation on their “Finding the Hero In You At Camp” campaign. Between this summer and last, all of our 13 URJ Camps will have hosted Bone Marrow Registry Drives to help identify potential bone marrow donors who can truly help to save a life.
The program is based on the value of helping others, particularly giving oneself to a complete stranger to save his or her life. Additionally, the program teaches Jewish youth that we all share a common heritage, with common values, and we must take care of our community.
Last year alone produced two matches from our camps, and we plan to continue to register more of our community members and share information about this important opportunity. Watch this video to learn more about this inspiring program.
