Our youngest campers, Nitzanim, spent the day at Six Flags Great Escape in Lake George, New York, and enjoyed roller coasters, water slides, food, shopping, and games. Camper Maya Fielding commented, “It was really fun, the waterslides were awesome and we got candy!” Michaela Laud added, “It was really weird because we had to go everywhere with our counselors, and here [at camp] we can go places ourselves, but it was really fun to get off camp.”
Bonim traveled to Six Flags New England in Agawam, Massachusetts. They also spent the day on world-class roller coasters and in the huge water park. Jacob Diamond said, “I liked the lazy river, it was definitely not lazy, and you could float around wither waterfalls and stuff coming at you.” All campers agreed that the trip was really fun, and memorable.
Lower Chaverim took an overnight trip to Boston. Their experience included rollerblading, the Museum of Science, the JFK Museum and Library, Sheer Madness, Hard Rock Café, shopping at Fenway Mall, Fenway Park, and the New England Aquarium. “It was definitely the best trip I’ve been on with camp so far,” said camper Sasha Klein. Shira Saar commented, “I learned that rollerblading is easier than it looks your first time.”
Upper Chaverim experienced Zoar Outdoor, which included ziplining, whitewater rafting, and a lot of fun downtime. “Ziplining was my favorite part because it was really exciting, “said Daniel Koster. Kyle Pardo added, “My favorite part of Zoar was the whitewater rafting because we cooled off and hung out with friends.”
Olim took an overnight trip to Philadelphia. When asked about the best part of the trip, Olim unanimously stated that it was the random sighting of Jennifer Lopez in Franklin Square (see photo below). “We were eating burgers and she was eating burgers too, and then we sat on her bench when she left,” Shantal Kash explained. Although this unexpected encounter was certainly exciting, campers enjoyed the rest of the trip, including the National Museum of American Jewish History, shopping, Magic Gardens, the Philadelphia Zoo, and singing their Olim cheer at the Hard Rock Café, immensely.
All of our campers are now safely back at camp, enjoying a day full of activities and reminiscing about their off-camp adventures!
