Session 1 Opening Day 2012

Eisner camp celebrated another fantastic opening day on June 27th, 2012!  Starting at nine, a steady stream of cars entered the gates.  Campers, both new and returning, rushed to reunite with old friends and make new ones!  Smiles were everywhere!  Thanks to Eisner’s Machon, campers were greeted to cheers and applause at every turn around camp as they made their way to their cabins.

After intensive counselor certification, Eisner staff could hardly contain their excitement to welcome campers into  cabins and into the Eisner family.  After an upbeat picnic lunch with their cabins, campers interacted with their units, picked activities for the week, met with the directors, and worked on unit and cabin cheers! The Chadar Ochel (dining hall) was rocking for dinner as Eisner enjoyed a tasty meal of pasta and homemade meatballs!

At the opening ceremony, campers danced and sang as the Torah was passed from Faculty to Machon and then to Eisner’s oldest campers, Olim, who circled the entire Beit T’filah!  The Torah was then to every camper in every unit, from oldest to youngest as music and happy thoughts for the summer ahead filled the air.  The ceremony ended with a rousing rendition of Over The Rafters.  Campers then made their way back to their cabins to write Bunk Brits with their counselors and get a great night’s sleep.  Can you believe that all of these exciting activities took place in just one day?  We’re so excited for the summer to unfold and so very happy that you’re all a part of our Eisner family.  What was your favorite part of opening day?  Do you have any vivid opening day memories of past summers? We’d love to hear them!
