Hey Camp George it’s KK here…and I wanted to share with you how we have been keeping busy here at Camp these past few weeks. After an amazing week with our Hanhallah (leadership team), our general staff arrived this past Sunday. After waiting ten long months to get back to George they were eager to see their friends, reacquaint with camp, and begin their preparations for summer 2012!
Here’s a sneak peak at some of our training sessions…specialists have been busy opening activity areas- doing everything from cleaning boats, to organizing supplies, and planning amazing skill based programs. Our counselors have been focusing on creating cabin routines, cabin programs, and getting to know their co-staff.
We have focused on teaching staff how to help develop friendships amongst kids in their cabin what our campers need to ensure a successful summer, how to develop great programs, how our programmatic theme of Hineni (Here I am) will come to life at camp, and how together we can ensure that camp is a safe place for everyone.
With three more days to go we are looking forward to…
- Making cabin themes, decorations, and work wheels
- Practicing Edah (unit) cheers
- Edah (unit) Adventures at The Point, the Island and Gan Matan
- Celebrating Shabbat together
- And of course welcoming our campers with our huge SMILES and ruach (spirit) on opening day!
Good luck finishing your packing and don’t forget your hats, water bottles and sunscreen. Counting down the days till we are all together on Maple Lake!
- KK
