Shabbat Shalom From Camp George!

Dear Camp George Families,

It’s hard to believe that it is not only the last Shabbat of the session but also of the summer! It seems like just yesterday that our session was beginning. While we are saddened that the session and summer is coming to an end, we also know that we have had a fantastic time, and that there are still a handful of amazing programs on deck!

Last weekend, we were thrilled to welcome you, our families into our camp community to experience the Camp George Shabbat culture for the first time. We hope you enjoyed the day, and found some Shabbat traditions to take home with you!

This past week has also been fantastic. Everyone had a blast at Maccabiah, where the blue team persevered in getting us back to the future! We also saw the production of some amazing camp legacy projects, such as the creation and decoration of a ramp through a path that joins Rocky Village to the Ropes course, as well as an art structure created by Barak, modeled after sculptures by Israeli artist Yaacov Agam. We know that these projects will have a lasting impact on our camp community.

Although we have had some rain, it came at the right moments, like the very end of Visitor’s Day and the play! The rain will also allow us to have a final camp wide Havdalah service with a campfire, which is something we’ve been hoping for!

Here’s what our units have been up to:

Nitzotzot- completed and graduated from CG101! They also played a fun filled round of “Hillel Tag”, and participated in a fun night of Dodgeball!
Lehavot – made delicious Challah, that even had chocolate chips in it! They also had fun hanging out with Camp Kadimah, and everyone was singing along to the High School Musical play last night!

Kochavim- everyone started the week by getting creative and sharing their favorite camp memories through hilarious dancing and singing. The unit found out who had the best smile, and who the next Jeff Rose is in “Family Feud”. They also cheered as loud as possible during Maccabiah!

Barak – congrats to all the Barak campers who did an amazing job in the play! The girls of BB had an amazing last canoe trip of the session. And lastly Barak enjoyed a windy but fun beach day filled with football, grounders, and YOBO (You Only Barak Once..or Twice) moments!

C.I.T’s – did an awesome job in helping out with Maccabiah! They also did an amazing job building their legacy projects – like the bridge! And they’ve been busy planning tomorrow’s camper Banquet. They can’t wait to share the theme with you!

As we prepare to wrap up Second Session, we are still looking forward to the dance show, Banquet on the last night of the session – where we also give out specialty area awards, and of course, a wonderful last Shabbat!

We are thankful, as always, that you and your families have chosen Camp George for your children. It has been an amazing session and we hope that they will return for many summers to come.

Shabbat Shalom!
