Dear Camp George Families!
It’s hard to believe that Hanukkah is just around the corner! As the calendar turns and 2013 begins, dreams of swimming in Maple Lake become that much closer to being a reality.
At this time of year we always like to reflect on things that we are thankful for as well as looking forward to things that we looking forward to! I thought that I would take this opportunity to share some of my feelings on this:
- I am thankful for all of you! Those wonderful campers and families who make our Kehilah (community) truly unique and special
- I am looking forward to our new cabins! It will be great to open the doors to the future and welcome our youngest campers into their new homes
- I am thankful for the amazing team I am fortunate to work with during the year AND during the summer – from the full time staff, to our lay leaders, to our summer staff – we have wonderful people engaged in Camp George
- I am looking forward to summer 2013 when we open our gates for our 15 summer – it is sure to be another amazing summer at camp!
Recently I was fortunate enough to visit my own camp alma mater on the occasion of its 50th anniversary. After having spent 16 of my summers at that camp there were many people that I had a chance to reconnect with. It was an amazing reminder for me, someone who now works in camping full time, that the relationships and bonds formed during our time spent in these wonderful, immersive experiences really do last a lifetime. I am thankful for all my years in camping and I look forward to many more – building new relationships with our entire community.
I am always thoughtful during the holiday season to consider those people around us who are less fortunate than us. As you gather around the light of the menorah with your family, this is a great time to have nice conversations about ways to help those in need.
Thank you all for being a part of the Camp George Family!
