Shabbat Shalom From Camp George!

Dear Camp George Families,

It’s hard to believe that it is not only the last Shabbat of the session but also of the summer! It seems like just yesterday that summer 2013 began. While we are sad to see the summer end, we know that everyone has had a fantastic time and that there are still some exciting programs to come!

Last weekend, we were thrilled to welcome you, our families into our camp community for Visitor’s Day. We hope that you enjoyed your time here at camp and that you were able to get a taste of camp life. We also want to thank- you for your generosity in donating to our Visitor’s Day food drive. Your donations have greatly benefited the Harvest Share Food Bank, where the items you donated have already been dropped off and shelved.
This past week has also been amazing. We enjoyed “Georgearoo” (a camp wide talent show), followed by the Hagigiah Arts Festival, a terrific rendition of “Mean Girls” with some CG twists added to the plot, we hosted Camp Kadimah Hamilton campers for two days, welcomed back our final Barak canoe trip and hosted our annual summer Alumni Day.

Here’s what our units have been up to:

Nitzotzot and Lehavot – Showed off their culinary skills at “International Iron Chef”, they danced and lip synced at air bands and they had an awesome time at their survival themed evening program where they competed as omnivores and carnivores.

Kochavim- Had a fantastic time at beach night, they bonded during bunk night and they showed off their knowledge at their “Family Feud” program.

Barak – Danced the night away at prom! They learned about the Israeli army at their Israel program and the boys had a great time on their overnight at Gan Matan with the C.I.T. boys.

C.I.T’s – Wrapped up their final placements of the summer, had a special off camp outing to the movies and are now busy preparing for banquet tomorrow!

As we prepare to wrap up Second Session, we are still looking forward to celebrating the final Shabbat of the summer, Banquet on the last night of the session – where we also give out specialty area awards, and of course, final unit and cabin programs! We are thankful, as always, that you and your families have chosen Camp George for your children. It has been an amazing session and we hope that they will return for many summers to come.

Of course, we look forward to staying in touch with you throughout the year, after all, we will be keeping the camp spirit alive until summer 2014! Keep your eyes open for information on community visits to congregations, off season events, Facebook posts, videos, weekly blogs, Twitter games and more!

Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom,

Jeff Rose, Director
