Josh Dubell.

Josh Dubell.

We have enjoyed getting to know Josh in the last few weeks and are confident that he will be a huge asset to the Northeast Lakes region and Camp George.  This is the first time ever that we will have a staff member working directly with youth from both organizations throughout the entire year and we couldn’t be more excited! We know that Josh will bridge the connection between NFTY-NEL and Camp George together in unparalleled ways.

In his role as Regional Advisor for NFTY NEL, Josh will collaborate with and support the temple youth groups of the Northeast Lakes region, working with teens, youth advisors and congregations to organize NFTY events. During the summer season, Josh will work at camp, planning and running both informal Jewish learning and formal Jewish programming. While Josh will work with campers and staff, he will also be directly involved with our camp faculty members. We believe that this unique collaboration between NFTY and camp is an amazing opportunity to strengthen the relationship between our organizations.

Josh comes to us with a wealth of experience with teens, camps, congregations and community partnerships. Josh is a native of London, England, where he has immersed himself in the Jewish community. At age fourteen, Josh became involved in youth moments in the UK and he has continued his involvement ever since. He tells us that “when I was growing up in London, my counselors/madrichim/leaders gave me all the tools to become a really committed member of the Jewish community and I really hope that I can bring some of the ideals that were taught to me to NFTY NEL and to Camp George.”

Professionally, Josh has taken on many roles through Netzer Olami, a worldwide youth movement of the World Union for Progressive Judaism, where he participated in a two year leadership training program, completed volunteer work and served as a youth movement worker. As well, Josh has also led and coordinated nationwide summer and winter camps, Israel Tours, Europe Tours and leadership events. Josh has also worked as Communications Officer for Alyth (North Western Reform Synagogue) in London.

Experiences working within the Jewish community have given Josh a strong and meaningful commitment to Jewish life and living that we know will have an incredible impact upon NFTY NEL and Camp George. As Josh has shared with us, he says “Jewish education has been extremely pivotal in my Jewish journey. Everything I have ever done in the Jewish community has been based in Jewish learning. Whether it be playing sports, touring Israel, running services or leading song sessions. I am really excited to help Camp George make camp a holistic experience with Judaism flowing through its veins.”

We hope you will join us in welcoming Josh to NFTY- NEL, Camp George and the North American Jewish community.
