Maccabiah is complete with the winners of Villain Maccabiah being Tzahov (Yellow Team)! For all of those who question the winning team being Tzahov both sessions in a row, it is just a coincidence; there is no rigging of Maccabiah here at GFC. The past couple days have been busy with RGBY, pseudo sports, the all camp relay, ruach fest, arts fest and much more. Let’s just say Maccabiah is a fun-filled packed schedule that doesn’t resemble the daily schedule at all. So that must mean back to a “normal schedule” but really is there ever a normal schedule at camp?
The first week it rained almost every day; which is really unusual for second session. There were days with no free swim and programs with a twist such as mud tug of war. Today, Kibbutz is coming back from an amazing trip full of camping, floating the river and going to Schlitterbahn. Tonight Melachim boys are going on a campout complete with a campfire song session, hobo packs and activities led by the scouts. Kohanim is going on its trip night to Hawaiian Falls, where they have the entire water park all for themselves and Avodah are on their “avo-night” out to dinner and thrifting (thrifting= thrift store shopping which was one of the Avodah’s wishes of the summer). Tomorrow night the Israeli Caravan will be coming to camp, which is a fun, all inclusive camp evening program that some campers look forward to all year.
I think that’s part of what makes camp special, that every day something unique happens whether planned or unplanned. It also is a special quality of camp that we go with the flow and adjust to whatever the day brings. With Maccabiah behind us, it feels like it created an invisible line of time, dividing the session in two and it feels like it is all going by so fast. As Loui always says, time is one of the hottest commodities here at summer camp so make sure to value it. For the rest of the “normal days” of the session left to come, I can’t wait to see what each day will bring!

Thanks for giving us a glimpse into summer life at GFC!
