Another week has passed and it’s time for Shabbat once again. Sadly, this is not only the last Shabbat of the session but the last Shabbat of the summer. For some of us on staff this is our ninth Shabbat of the summer and it’s crazy to believe how fast time has flown by. Tonight is Garin Greene Shabbat where kids who just returned from this Israel trip will be coming to camp to spend Shabbat with all of us. Last week we had Avodah Shabbat, where Avodah families camp to spend Shabbat with us and the Avodah led the service. It was a special service led by Led by Lynzi, Alex, Sammi, Cooper, Helen, Jared, Cassie, Nathan, Revelle, Rachel, Allison, Max W, “The McWy;” Molly, Matthew, and Max, Josh, Brianna, Marissa, Alisha, Madison, Brian, Kari, Carly, Hannah, Isabel, Jake, Jacqueline, Ty, Jessie, Maddie, Lara, Presley, Mellissa, Tiffany, Illysa, Jonathan, Theo, Nicole, Sally, Harrison & Celia. Below is a reading and the closing song that Avodah included in the service to make it special. Enjoy and hope you have a restful Shabbat!
Our service, Our experience
This experience…
The Avodah program offered 43 teenagers the unique opportunity to transition into being a staff member at the camp we grew up going to. Avodah has not only taught us what it takes to be a good counselor, but also how to be an adult. All of us have grown as people during these seven weeks
This summer I…
Met a whole new group of friends, laughed so hard I cried, sang along with a ukulele on the porch, watched my campers fall in love with camp, lifted a lot of dishes, judged Maccabiah
This service…
In front of many parents, is the first step of the conclusion of our summer. This summer was like the sunset to your left. We started as a young sun, blazed throughout the middle of the day, and hopefully, will end shining like the moon
Closing Song
In My Life
There are places I remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I’ve loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
Though I know I’ll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I’ll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more
