Today is Opening Day! We here at GUCI could not be more excited. For the last two weeks staff members have been cleaning and preparing all of camp’s physical areas, and for the last week all of staff has undergone rigorous orientation and training in order to create an engaging, spiritual, and just plain fun environment for our campers.
“We’ve been working really hard for the past week,” said Shoresh Head Counselor Casey Wright, “we’ve been getting ready for our campers and we can’t wait for them to get here to begin this incredible summer!”
Opening Day will be a day of organized chaos. Parents and their children will arrive at The New Life Worship Center church parking lot we have used for logistics for the past several years. The address can be found at the link below. At 2:00 PM, we will begin bus shuttles from the church parking lot to camp for camper check-in, lice check, and med drop-off. There will be staff and Avodahnikim stationed at the parking lot to answer questions and collect luggage; it will be delivered directly to the front of your camper’s cabin. At 3:15 PM, camp Director Mark Covitz will hold a new parent meeting in the Beit T’fillah for parents of first-time campers. He will be available at that time to answer any and all questions. By 4:00 PM, cabins will begin introductory programs and mixers. GUCI Kallah Aleph 2013 will have officially begun!
A complete list of instructions for Opening Day as well as driving instructions can be found here. Don’t forget that we will be live tweeting all day long at @URJGUCI. We will also be tweeting throughout the session with daily camp updates and photos, so make sure to follow us! See you all very soon!!
