To me, the 4th of July has always been about camp! Here at camp, we have a tremendous opportunity to make the 4th of July into anything we want it to be.

Camp Harlam: A Kehila Kedosha
The actions of these young people reminded me, once again, that Camp Harlam—and each of the URJ’s camps—is just such a community. My family and I have been blessed to be a part of this holy community, and, if you haven’t already, I urge you to make a URJ camp experience a reality for your children as well.

The summer of 2012 marks an important moment in time for Camp Harlam. This is not a new camp; we have generations of history here in Kunkletown. But we see this summer as a critical period for us to take stock of all of our success in the past and show the true strength of this place; the power and potential of this Reform Jewish Movement; the capacity of its leadership; and the tremendous Kehillah Kedoshah (sacred community) that was built here and will survive for all time.
NFTY in Israel Send-Off at Camp Harlam
Israel is our homeland… This past weekend, 49 Camp Harlam campers joined us for the first time in over 20 years, at camp, for an orientation program leading up to their six-week journey to Eastern Europe and Israel. The goals of this weekend were three fold… To provide all participants with an orientation that will prepare them for their experience abroad. To establish the NFTY in Israel trip as a continuation of the Camp Harlam experience. Shalom! Every summer at Camp Harlam brings new experiences and challenges, whether it is your first summer here, or your twenty-first. For me, someone who grew up here at Camp Harlam, this summer marks my first as an Assistant Director, with the opportunity and privilege to see camp from the perspective of the Professional Staff.
