A Little Bit of Camp Perspective

By Sam Swire – Dubim Unit Head

I sit here in the Chadar Ochel (dining hall) after our staff meeting before opening night, typing this up on my phone.  I would be doing it on my laptop, but it decided it was not going to turn on 3 days ago.  If I was in any place other than camp this inconvenience would have been a major crisis, but here at camp life is different; I step outside and remember how amazing camp is and those bad things can suddenly melt away.

That is what this place does, and I can see it on the faces of the counselors as they walk to the tower for a “night climb”.  These Jewish role models have put their blood, sweat and tears into the past five weeks and are still ready to do it again for the next two.  As they climb the tower that in about 36 hours will be climbed by campers, I can’t wipe the smile off my face that I had 14 opening days ago at my first session here.  I am giddy because I know these kids coming tomorrow are going to have the best two weeks of their lives!

May I simply just say what a comfort to uncover someone who actually understands what they’re discussing on the web. You definitely understand how to bring an issue to light and make it important. More people must read this and understand this side of the story. I was surprised that you’re not more popular given that you most certainly have the gift.

I hardly comment, but after reading a few of the responses on this page %BLOG_TITLE%. I do have 2 questions for you if it’s okay. Is it simply me or do some of these remarks appear like they are written by brain dead visitors? 😛 And, if you are writing at additional online social sites, I’d like to follow you. Would you post a list of all of all your shared pages like your twitter feed, Facebook page or linkedin profile?

Aw, this was an incredibly nice post. Spending some time and actual effort to create a superb article… but what can I say… I procrastinate a lot and never manage to get anything done.
