It seems almost impossible to place a marker on my favorite memory from Kutz. Aside from all the crazy adventures I had with my friends, and apart from all the incredibly engaging services and programs, my favorite memories are probably those from my time as a part of the Songleading Major. In Songleading, we were blessed to have the opportunity to learn from some truly remarkable teachers and mentors. Debra Winter and Max Chaikin, our primary Major teachers were superb, and each of the guest teachers brought something special and unique to the class.

Kutz… where do I even begin? Well for starters I came to camp thinking that this would be a waste of my summer, that I would just be surrounded by a bunch of people who were more religious than I. But as it turns out, I was wrong. At camp Kutz I was immediately embraced with welcoming arms.
Klutz: Kutz Camp Glee Club
on July 22, 2011
Yeah, we went there. The three-week Kutz Glee Minor arranged, recorded, and choreographed song to be used in a “Klutz” episode they wrote, acted in and filmed. The video, aside from showcasing our many talents at Kutz, also touches upon liberal Jewish values as the Klutz Club has issue with the Mechitza at the Kotel.

Digital Media Major Spotlight: How Technology is Influencing Religion
on July 5, 2011
The Digital Media Major is exciting and engaging. In class so far we have discussed and experimented with the concept of intention. Intention in what we produce and how we ultimately present it (and ourselves). We have taken intentional photographs, thinking about the framing and composition of them, and have discussed and debated intentions of what is appropriate to presented online. We have also had the privilege and honor to have time with several guest faculty members who are leaders and professionals pushing the envelop in their respective fields.
Creative Arts Major Spotlight: Finding Our Makom and Turning It into Art
on July 4, 2011
Our Creative Arts Major is split into two main parts. The idea of the major on the first half of the major is spent gaining basic skills for drawing and painting in still life and it also gives a kind of basic level of common language that we can share. The second half of the major each member of the class creates an art project from start to finish.
The Wonderful World of Leadership: Kutz Programming Uses Disney to Teach Leadership Lessons
on June 30, 2011
I was a Disney kid.” Most campers, and even staff, at the URJ Kutz Camp have said this sentence at least once before in their life. Even if they haven’t, most are extremely familiar with the lovable characters of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Princess Ariel, Belle, Mulan and Pocahontas. Whether Disney veteran or newbie to the magical world of Mickey Mouse, every camper at Kutz got the chance to the Wonderful World of Disney in a completely new light: as creative leaders.
