Truly, there’s a ton of great stuff happening at NFTY Convention 2011. Four things to keep your eye out for:
- On Saturday morning, URJ President Rabbi Eric Yoffie will address NFTY Convention. Rabbi Yoffie has recently given increased attention to youth, with the URJ launching The Campaign for Teen Engagement. Two years ago, NFTY Convention participants responded to Rabbi Yoffie’s remarks with comments such as: “This Dude needs to talk to my Mom,” and “He was awesome.”
- Every other year, NFTY’s painters and poets, designers and dancers, photographers and videographers, orators and musicians explore their Judaism through art in the NFTY Competitions. The NFTY Competitions are always a highlight of NFTY Convention, when entries in song, visual arts, and D’rei Torah are displayed.
- Cowboys Stadium, featured in this year’s Super Bowl, will be visited by NFTY Convention attendees. A certified green building, NFTY’s visit will highlight aspects of sustainability and green construction.
- NFTYites will hear from Jacy Good, once a guest on Oprah who uses her personal story to campaign against distracted driving and conducts a “Don’t Text and Drive” campaign.
We’ll continue to highlight NFTY Convention’s programmatic features in the coming days. Stay tuned for more!
