By Shoshana Weinstein, NFTY-MAR member and Social Action Vice President from Temple Shalom, Chevy Chase, Maryland
Hi, I am Shoshana and I am an SAVP at Temple Shalom in Chevy Chase, Maryland, part of NFTY-MAR. In terms of my social action interests I am interested in helping children, teens, and adults who have developmental and physical disabilities.
One of the most meaningful things I have done this year is to volunteer in one of the special education classes at my school. This has been a really valuable experience for me because I am giving back to my own school community, a place that I am a part of each and every day. Additionally, at my work, I am paired up with an individual who has some speech impediments and development delays. For me, I feel really grateful I can make a difference in these people’s lives and see the difference I can make in the world.
My plans for this year are to continue working with these amazing individuals. In life, I plan to continue this passion and become a special education teacher after college.
