On June 24, 2012, I began what would soon be the biggest milestone in my Jewish journey. Not knowing that I would have any other NFTYites on my flight, I luckily ran into 3 familiar, smiling faces.

Throughout Jewish life there are many benchmarks. Some are optional, and some come with tradition. The path I have taken has definitely been one of structure.

At every Passover Seder we have in my home, my mother always begins with the same shpeel, “Seder means order, we have to do it in this specific order like the all of the other Jews around the world!”!” Growing up I always found that to be kind of a romantic thought.

Shabbat is not a singular word. Every Jewish individual defines this twenty-four hour period in a different way, in both action and words. From Shomer Shabbos to driving to Saturday morning services, Shabbat is, in essence, a spectrum of ideas and observances.
