Shabbat Limmud

January 23, 2008
This past weekend, 800 New Yorkers from across the Jewish denominational and post-denominational spectrum, headed out to the Catskills to spend Shabbat together at Limmud NY.

Limmud.jpgI, for one, cannot think of a better way to spend Shabbat than immersed in Jewish learning, prayer and discourse.
Don't worry if you're not a New Yorker.  Limmud conferences can be found in Los Angeles, Colorado, and Toronto as well (not to mention the UK - where it all got started - France, Australia, the FSU, Turkey, Switzerland, Germany, and of course Israel!)

Putting the dates for next year's conference in your calendar is highly recommended!

And Atlanta and South Africa, apparently.

I have been going to LimmudNY since it began in 2004. It is an AMAZING experience. However, as a young Reform Jew who has had the opportunity to meet and mingle with leaders from other Jewish movements and organizations, I hope that LimmudNY will gain more attendance in the future from both Reform Jewish professionals, staff and congregants! Here's to LimmudNY 2009! (There is also talk of soon a Limmud in DC...)

We invite everyone to join the conversation about observing Shabbat today. This is the place to discuss everything from ways to celebrate at home to our relationship with God and Jewish community, as well as recipes and Jewish art projects - all in the context of Shabbat.
