This past weekend, 800 New Yorkers from across the Jewish denominational and post-denominational spectrum, headed out to the Catskills to spend Shabbat together at
Limmud NY.

I, for one, cannot think of a better way to spend Shabbat than immersed in Jewish learning, prayer and discourse.
Don't worry if you're not a New Yorker. Limmud conferences can be found in
Los Angeles,
Colorado, and
Toronto as well (not to mention the
UK - where it all got started -
France,
Australia,
the FSU,
Turkey,
Switzerland,
Germany, and of course
Israel!)
Putting the dates for next year's conference in your calendar is highly recommended!
And Atlanta and South Africa, apparently.
I have been going to LimmudNY since it began in 2004. It is an AMAZING experience. However, as a young Reform Jew who has had the opportunity to meet and mingle with leaders from other Jewish movements and organizations, I hope that LimmudNY will gain more attendance in the future from both Reform Jewish professionals, staff and congregants! Here's to LimmudNY 2009! (There is also talk of soon a Limmud in DC...)
