The Poor People's Campaign: An Opportunity to Put Our Values into Action

June 11, 2020Kate Bigam Kaput

What would happen if poor and low-wealth people across the United States banded together to act for change? That’s the idea behind the Poor People's Campaign: A National Call for Moral Revival.

This week, Rev. William J. Barber II, co-chair of the Poor People’s Campaign, joined Rabbi Jonah Dov Pesner, director of the Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism, for a Facebook Live conversation about how faith communities in the U.S. are mobilizing voters around economic and racial justice issues. This conversation was the third installment in a series of conversations related to Every Voice, Every Vote: The Reform Movement’s 2020 Civic Engagement Campaign

"You can't understand Selma and the civil rights movements without understand Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel and Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., together," Rev. Barber explains. Watch this powerful conversation on the RAC's Facebook page or below to hear more about the work of the Poor People's Campaign and exactly why it matters so much right now.

On June 20th, join the Poor People’s Campaign, including the Reform Jewish Movement, for the largest digital and social media gathering of poor and low-wealth people, moral and religious leaders, advocates, and people of conscience in this nation’s history.
