Beet Hummus
A few years ago I was served beet hummus at an upscale restaurant in Tel Aviv. The following is my interpretation of this delicious dish and a great way to introduce children to beets.
Beet Horseradish
This recipe calls for adding fresh beets to the horseradish for color and flavor, but you can make both white and red horseradish - just set some aside before you add beets to the whole batch.
Blueberry Pie
Try this delicious pie, adapted from "Cousin Joan's Elegant and Easy Blueberry Pie" recipe in the Garden City Jewish Center's cookbook.
Melopita (Honey and Cheese Pie)
This ricotta cheese-filled honey pie is perfect to serve on both Shavuot and Rosh HaShanah. But most of all, it is a reminder of the Jewish community in Greece. Enjoy!
Waldorf Salad
This hearty salad is famous for its creamy dressing atop crunchy veggies and fruit.
Challah Cheese Souffle
This non-collapsing soufflé is perfect to make with younger children with short attention spans.
Swiss Chard, Potato and Cheese Gratin
Served piping hot, this dish makes a wholesome light family meal.
Israeli Chocolate Spread
Chocolate spread permeates Israeli meals and is even packed in army supply kits.
